First Timers

There’s always that feeling of insecurity

when trying for the first time.

That first date,

first career,

first day of school.

We’ve all been there.

You can’t help feel the excitement,

but you’re afraid it’ll be fleeting

and you’ll be left feeling depleted.

It’s all normal

and there’s no real cure for those butterflies,

so I’ve got to say,

you’re kind of stuck on that note.

But I’d rather live with all these feelings,

than to never again feel at all.
